CHET COPPOCK has exited his weekend show at SPORTING NEWS RADIO, and he told the CHICAGO TRIBUNE on the way out the door that the company can no longer afford him. COPPOCK told the TRIBUNE that "my number ($200,000.) is too big for a company that, sadly, is hemorrhaging... They were trying to get me to take a 20 percent cut. Fortunately, I'm in a position where I don't have to do that."
COPPOCK called the split amicable; the departure comes amidst reports of staff cuts at the network, whose owner PAUL ALLEN is reportedly looking at a possible sale of the SPORTING NEWS and the radio network.
