At NOON today, NORTHERN LIGHTS BROADCASTING Top 40/Rhythmic KTTB (B96)/MINNEAPOLIS abruptly flipped to Top 40/Mainstream KHTC "96.3 NOW," claiming to have "increased signal power and more online and mobile access than before.".Sources tell ALL ACCESS that the entire air staff, with the exception of morning man TONE E. FLY, have been let go. Currently, they are running jockless.
"We are shifting to a more mainstream pop/hip-hop mix of music, which reflects both what listeners across the U.S. are responding to, as well as the music that’s being produced today," NORTHERN LIGHTS BROADCASTING Pres./CEO STEVE WOODBURY said. The new station replaces the previous format under the B96 name.
Core artists include: BEYONCE, THE BLACK EYED PEAS, KATY PERRY, RIHANNA, JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, JAY-Z, BRITNEY SPEARS, KANYE WEST and LADY GAGA.
"It’s our hope that our current listeners will find more music to like than ever before," Northern Lights VP/Operations SAM ELLIOT added. "Plus, we hope to attract more listeners with our increased broadcast reach and music offering." The station has increased signal strength throughout the entire metro area, with a special focus on reaching eastern ST. PAUL.
"Our vision is to build the next powerhouse radio station in the TWIN CITIES," WOODBURY said. "We are elated to expand our footprint into this area and look forward to serving 18-49 year old adults in the TWIN CITIES radio market."
The station's website is currently "under construction."
