The hotly contested race between Democrat MARTHA COAKLEY and Republican SCOTT BROWN for MASSACHUSETTS' open Senate seat TUESDAY is drawing special coverage from national news organizations, and among those offering live programming focusing on the election are SIRIUS XM RADIO's P.O.T.U.S. channel and SALEM RADIO NETWORK.
P.O.T.U.S. anchor JOE MATHIEU will be broadcasting live from BOSTON with a special edition of "THE PRESS POOL" noon-3p ET, with guests including MICHAEL DUKAKIS, former BOSTON Mayor RAY FLYNN, BOSTON GLOBE reporter MATT VISER, BOSTON PHOENIX reporter DAVID BERNSTEIN, state Democratic chair JOHN WALSH, state House minority leader BRAD JONES, and State Rep. KATHI-ANNE REINSTEIN. When the polls close at 8p ET, the channel will offer full coverage of the election with TIM FARLEY anchoring from WASHINGTON and MATHIEU on the scene in BOSTON.
SALEM's coverage will include WHITE HOUSE correspondent GREG CLUGSTON anchoring hourly newscasts from BOSTON as well as reporting live from BROWN's headquarters. The network also plans a live special, "MASSACHUSSETS Votes: The SCOTT Heard Round The World," with SRN talk host HUGH HEWITT anchoring. "The Commonweath of MASSACHUSETTS is ground zero for the political world in 2010," said SRN VP of News and Talk Programming TOM TRADUP. "Whether the victor is MARTHA COAKLEY and SCOTT BROWN, this tight race in the ultra-liberal Bay State has send shockwaves through WASHINGTON, D.C. and the nation, so we will give SRN listeners the chance to have a front row seat for all the action TUESDAY evening."
Election Day In The Mix
The heated SENATE race will likely end on CBS RADIO Hot AC WBMX/BOSTON's KARSON & KENNEDY morning show, as they will have both MARTHA COAKLEY and SCOTT BROWN on their show TOMORROW.
