It's not every day that a radio talk team lands in court on opposite sides of a case, and even more unusual that one on-air partner testifies on behalf of someone accused of trying to kill the other, but that's exactly what happened in a NEW YORK court between WABC-A/NEW YORK hosts CURTIS SLIWA and RON KUBY on MONDAY.
KUBY, a noted attorney, testified in the defense of JOHN A. "JUNIOR" GOTTI, telling the court that GOTTI told him in 1998 of his desire to leave the mob life. GOTTI, who says he did not have anything to do with SLIWA's 1992 shooting, is on trial for racketeering, and the current charges are based on allegations that GOTTI continued to conduct mob business from prison after 1998.
On MONDAY's show before the trial session, SILWA called KUBY, his political opposite and daily foil, "Judas" and suggested that KUBY do a show with GOTTI; KUBY responded that SLIWA "should have nothing to fear from the truth."
