Metro Detroit Chopper Makes Emergency Landing

A METRO NETWORKS traffic helicopter made an emergency landing FRIDAY morning when its engine failrd in mid-air. Pilot JOEL ALEXANDER was able to keep the chopper's blades turning and landed the aircraft safely at OAKLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE in suburban FARMINGTON HILLS.
ALEXANDER, reporter BILL SZUMANSKI, and camera operator JOE CONRAD were able to walk away from the chopper after the incident.
The chopper provides reports for CITADEL Talk WJR-A, CBS RADIO News WWJ-A, FOX O&O WJBK-TV (FOX 2), and NBC affiliate WDIV-TV.
