Congrats to MIDWEST COMMUNICATIONS/GREEN BAY Top 40 WIXX, Country WNCY, N/T WTAQ-A, Classic Rocker WOZZ, Sports WNFL-A, and Adult Hits WROE who teamed up and raised $28,782 for the AMERICAN RED CROSS HAITI RELIEF & DEVELOPMENT FUND during "HAITIAN CRISIS DAY" this past SATURDAY (1/23).
All on-air personalities from all stations were at various FESTIVAL FOODS locations, asking the community to give. FESTIVAL FOODS set up a code at the registers for customers to donate any amount and tack it on their food bill. On the air, the stations had actual live reporters in HAITI, plus ALEX JUSTE, Dir. of HAITIANS HELPING HAITIANS put a young girl on the air, who spoke broken English but thanked everyone for their help.
WOZZ Brand Mgr. JASON HILLERY told ALL ACCESS, "We heavily promoted the 800-HELP-NOW national number, but only $100 of the total we raised came through that number. The other $28,682 was raised on-location by people coming out to hand their donation right to our personalities. It shows how powerful radio is at moments like this."
