Everyone at ALL ACCESS is thrilled to be working with JACOBS MEDIA for their 6th ANNUAL ROCK TECH POLL. This is a national web poll about media and technology, conducted among Rock, Alternative, Classic Rock and Triple A stations from around the country, going to the field in mid-FEBRUARY with results shared in mid-MARCH.
Last year's survey included 64 stations, generating more than 21,000 respondents and included stations in Top 10 metros, as well as small markets. The survey is open to stations who are JACOBS MEDIA clients, and those who are not.

Topics include traditional media usage (TV, radio), as well as new media outlets (YOUTUBE, HULU, FACEBOOK, TWITTER), and gadgets (DVRs, iPODS, smartphones).
While we will track media usage and gadget ownership across the past five years, TECH POLL VI will cover the following areas, of critical importance to radio managers:
* Social networking growth -- specifically, FACEBOOK and TWITTER -- and how stations can best participate
* Video streaming -- and the use of sites like Hulu and YouTube
* Radio listener awareness and use of PANDORA, its impact on broadcast radio, and how it fares over time
* How radio listeners are multi-tasking & where radio fits into the mix
* Mobile phones - what's hot, smartphone growth, app usage, and the more popular apps: individual or aggregated
* The growth of streaming and where it's taking place -- computers, mobile, etc.
* Satellite radio's temperature -- is there any momentum (or life after HOWARD)?
* Has HD radio made progress in the past year?
New Questions For 2010
Listener reactions to the possible return of HOWARD STERN to terrestrial radio. What might be his impact after five years at SIRIUS?The tendency for listeners to participate in radio ratings surveys, providing programmers with a look at how members of their databases would react to being contacted by a ratings firm.
The ROCK TECH POLL will measure initial reactions to APPLE's new 'tablet' to gauge early interest. This is one of the great benefits of doing these studies annually.
ALL ACCESS President/Publisher JOEL DENVER commented, "In this fast changing world of new platforms, delivery systems, and evolving user interfaces for music, video, data, telecommunication, and social media this yearly survey gives us all a sense of what programmers are sensing and feeling from their audiences. We're very pleased to be part of this process."
JACOBS MEDIA President FRED JACOBS commented, "It’s great to have a media partner like ALL ACCESS. We want this year’s survey station list to be broad and inclusive, and ALL ACCESS provides us with great reach."
Any Rock/Alternative/Classic Rock/Triple A Station Can Participate In Two Ways
1. A small participation fee based on market size, surveying up to 500 completed interviews. Stations receive their local market data, the total survey data, their format data, and their own media usage pyramid. These stations will also be able to participate in a free webinar that reviews the data this spring.Top 20 markets: $500; Markets 21-50: $400; Markets 51+: $300
2. No fee. If stations elect to not pay the fee, they can still participate in the study, but will not receive local data or a media usage pyramid for their station. They will receive the total survey data, their format data, and participation in our webinar.
JACOBS MEDIA handles all details of the study, and supplies e-mail copy and all technical aspects of participation. For more information or to sign up for the ROCK TECH POLL #6, just send an e-mail to: lisariker@jacobsmedia.com, or just click here to register directly.
