Drew Hayes Named Ops Dir. At WLS

CBS RADIO News WBBM-A and Sports WSCR-A (670 THE SCORE)/CHICAGO Operations Dir. DREW HAYES is returning to CITADEL Talk WLS-A/CHICAGO as Operations Dir. starting FEBRUARY 1st. The hiring was first reported by VOCALO.ORG's ROBERT FEDER and confirmed by ALL ACCESS this afternoon.

HAYES, who replaces BOB SHOMPER, was PD at WLS in 1989-96 before moving on to ESPN RADIO and KABC-A/LOS ANGELES. He also hosted at the old /CHICAGO and oversaw Talk WCKG (105.9 FREE FM) for CBS.

"I was looking for someone with a sense of urgency, an ear for what people what to hear, a vision of what a radio station should sound like and strong local knowledge. In DREW, we’ll be getting all of that," said DAMSKY in a press release.

Afternoon host ROE CONN, who was first hired at WLS by HAYES, called HAYES "one of the great architects of modern Talk radio. I couldn’t be more thrilled that we’re able to get the band back together."
