BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE finally had the opportunity to thank and say goodbye to TAMPA BAY listeners this morning, as he joined FISHER and BOY on THE MORNING X on COX Alternative WSUN (97X)/TAMPA.
He was nothing but complimentary when it came to talking about his former crosstown employer, saying that he harbored "no ill will" toward CLEAR CHANNEL. "They made a business decision to let me go. In my opinion, it was something they were forced to do in the environment with the FCC," said BUBBA.
They made a business decision to let me go.
BUBBA talked about having other opportunities on terrestrial radio before joining SIRIUS, in CHICAGO for mornings, as well as with COX in TAMPA at Classic Rock WHPT (102.5 THE BONE). He also mentioned that he was able to keep his on-air team together thanks to his "pretty good exit plan" with CLEAR CHANNEL, which allowed him "to keep everybody's families afloat for two years financially."
BUBBA also said that he regretted the on-air stunt that probably got him the most national publicity: The wild boar killing incident. "If I had something to re-do in my entire radio career, I would have never gone there."
