DAVID LEE ROTH continued his battle with management at CBS Talk WFNY-F (92.3 FREE FM)/NEW YORK THURSDAY, saying that "ultimately I'll be fired... I refuse to dummy down."
The NEW YORK POST's JOHN MAINELLI reports that ROTH spent most of his THURSDAY show on the topic, saying that management told him he needs to be "funnier" but that "I'm not a comedian, I'm a cynic... I was told we have too-broad-based subjects like gun control and abortion…that I shouldn’t play ethnic-based music [and] I should stop reading e-mails from outside the U.S.” ROTH followed that with a half-hour discussion of SOUTH DAKOTA's abortion ban, some of SERGIO MENDES' new CD, and a call from VENEZUELA.
Ultimately I'll be fired
ROTH ripped VP/Programming MARK CHERNOFF, comparing him to HOWARD STERN's nemesis KEVIN METHENY ("How did we get saddled with 'Pig Vomit' from the HOWARD STERN movie?") and repeated some of the complaints he discussed on WEDNESDAY, including management's request for a ROBIN QUIVERS-like sidekick and other topic restrictions.
On his SIRIUS show, STERN suggested that CBS' LES MOONVES was setting ROTH up, saying "you can see they’re setting him up to not pay him because they’re saying he’s not cooperating. You’ll see. They’ll fire him. They won’t pay him."
