The trial that created a rift between WABC-A/NEW YORK morning co-hosts CURTIS SLIWA and RON KUBY ended in a mistrial friday, with a jury failing to agree to convict JOHN A. "JUNIOR" GOTTI on racketeering charges, the second time in a year that GOTTI has walked on mob charges.
KUBY testified on GOTTI's behalf in the latest trial, telling the court that GOTTI indicated his desire to leave the mob in JULY 1999, which would have tolled a five year statute of limitations; SLIWA, whose 1992 shooting he blames on GOTTI ordering a hit, testified against GOTTI and voiced his anger over KUBY's testimony on the air and off. Prosecutors say they'll bring GOTTI to a third trial.
