Sirius XM OutQ Special Looks At Gays On TV

SIRIUS XM RADIO's OUTQ will air a speciak four-hour event, "I Want My Gay TV: The LGBT History of Television," on FRIDAY (3/12).  The show, airing at 6p ET, will review 60 years of gay characters on television, from MILTON BERLE's cross-dressing to ELLEN DEGENERES and "QUEER EYE FOR THE STRAIGHT GUY."

Among the celebrities interviewed for the show are ROSIE O'DONNELL, actor WILSON CRUZ, "DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES" creator MARC CHERRY, "QUEER EYE" co-host JAI RODRIGUEZ, comedy writer BRUCE VILANCH, RUPAUL, actor/comedian HAL SPARKS and actress LUCY LAWLESS.

A post-show panel moderated by OUTQ's DEREK HARTLEY will follow the special, with GLAAD's RASHAD ROBINSON, the PALEY CENTER FOR THE MEDIA's BARRY MONOUSH, and HEADLINE NEWS anchor JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL.
 
"Television is a place for the LGBT community to learn their own history, and these personal stories reveal how important television programming has been to the community," said HARTLEY. "With more than 20 interviews, 'I Want My Gay TV' reveals for the first time ever how the shows we watched changed our lives."
