Violent storms roared across ILLINOIS early MONDAY (12). Hardest hit was the city of SPRINGFIELD which, according to a story in the CHICAGO TRIBUNE, suffered the worst property damage with about 1,000 homes, two major shopping areas and hotels getting hit. SAGA Top 40 WDBR took a hit as well, as the storm toppled their 308 foot broadcast tower knocking them, along with sister Talk station WTAX off the air. At press time, WTAX has resumed broadcasting using the 101.9 frequency of sister Oldie's WQQL. Workers are currently in the process of bringing WDBR back on-air, hopefully this afternoon, according to a station spokesperson.
