The ASSOCIATED PRESS is reporting that the widow of Country legend ROGER MILLER was awarded the copyrights to some of his biggest hits, including "King Of The Road." A federal judge gave MARY MILLER and ROGER MILLER MUSIC, INC. the legal rights to songs like "Dang Me," "Chug-A-Lug" and "You Can't Roller Skate In A Buffalo Herd," all published in 1964.
MARY and the company will receive about $900,000 in unpaid royalties. They both sued SONY/ATV PUBLISHING in 2004 to claim copyrights for songs published from 1958-1964. At the time of ROGER's death in 1992, copyrights expired after 28 years and had to be renewed.
