CLEAR CHANNEL/CLEVELAND OM KEITH ABRAMS has hired separate PDs for Country WGAR and Hot AC WMVX to replace CHRIS MILLER, who left in JANUARY (NET NEWS 1/20).
TONY MATTEO is the new PD of MIX 106.5. MATTEO is a CLEVELAND native and for the past nine years has been the PD of CLEAR CHANNEL Adult Hits KTOZ (ALICE 95.5)/SPRINGFIELD, MO and the Assistant Operations Dir. for the SPRINGFIELD cluster. Prior to that he was the PD of CLEAR CHANNEL KTNP/OMAHA. MATTEO will start this coming MONDAY MARCH 29th.
CHARLIE CONNOLLY is the new PD for CLEAR CHANNEL Country WGAR/CLEVELAND. CONNOLLY comes in from CUMULUS Country WSM-F (95.5 THE WOLF)/NASHVILLE where he was PD for the past two years. Before that, he was the PD of CBS RADIO AC KVIL/DALLAS and previously programmed winning stations in NEW YORK CITY and LONG ISLAND. CONNOLLY's first day will be a week from WEDNESDAY on MARCH 31st.
"We could not be more excited to bring two very successful programmers to our cluster in TONY and CHARLIE," said ABRAMS. "They both bring the passion, vision and smarts to really grow their stations ratings and revenues. Plus, they are both really good guys!"
[Rather than go with one PD overseeing two stations, CC/Cleveland brought in separate Programmers for these stations. Is this a sign of things to come? Share your thoughts below with the ALL ACCESS community.]
