NATHAN B. STUBBLEFIELD FOUNDATION noncommercial Variety WMNF/TAMPA has suspended the twice-monthly health show hosted by Dr. CAROL ROBERTS after news of an outbreak of Hepatitis C at her clinic emerged and questions arose about her handling of the information, reports the ST. PETERSBURG TIMES' ERIC DEGGANS.
ROBERTS' holistic medical clinic in the TAMPA suburb of BRANDON experienced a Hepatitis C outbreak last year in which eight patients were infected, and the report hit the papers on MARCH 20th, but ROBERTS allegedly did not notify the station of the situation, which is being investigated by the FLORIDA Dept. of Health. The station was informed about the Hepatitis C outbreak by an anonymous letter which arrived at the station in early MARCH. After the story broke in the TIMES, ROBERTS went on WMNF's "WOMEN'S SHOW" to talk about health issues, but used the appearance to counter the report instead.
WMNF Dir./News and Public Affairs ROB LOREI told DEGGANS that the station would review the state report and would reinstate the show if no serious problems are uncovered.
