BMI has promoted three senior executives -- RICHARD CONLON, BRUCE ESWORTHY and MICHAEL O’NEILL. CONLON was promoted to SVP/Corporate Strategy, Communications & New Media; CFO ESWORTHY is now SVP/Finance & Administration; and O’NEILL now holds the newly established position of SVP/Repertoire & Licensing.
The realignment follows the retirements of BMI EVP/COO JOHN CODY and LANDMARK DIGITAL SERVICES Managing Dir. ROBERT BARONE at the end of 2010. "BMI has a dynamic group of executives who are committed to sustaining a vibrant and growing marketplace for copyright," BMI Pres./CEO DEL BRYANT said. "These well-deserved promotions, new responsibilities and structure will allow us to continue to lead our sector at a time of great change, maintaining BMI’s position as one of the strongest companies in the global entertainment industry."
More Tracking Of Live Shows
BMI has also expanded its tracking of live music performances to include smaller concert events, distributing royalties to additional songwriters, composers and music publishers. It started paying performance royalties on the top-300 concert tours, events and festivals in AMERICA, as determined by POLLSTAR research, on a quarterly basis, on MARCH 29th.
“The expansion of the live pop concert distribution is the result of an on-going effort at BMI to capture information on musical performances in additional venues on a more frequent basis, thereby increasing the number of titles eligible for payment each quarter," SVP/Repertoire and Licensing MICHAEL O’NEILL said. "The end result is the inclusion of many more songwriters and music publishers sharing in this segment of the distribution."
