So, what's the deal on CLEAR CHANNEL Rocker WXTB (98 ROCK)/TAMPA morning man COWHEAD? A trip to his site www.cowheadshow.com yesterday yielded the following:
"I am not on vacation, nor does my station (WXTB 98ROCK TAMPA) have any cruise this week or at all.
"It is for material that aired on my show that is questionable. I don't want to say anymore because there is a good chance that I will be fired this week, and I would rather not say anything that will contribute to that.
"I assure you, this is no hokey zoo crew nut hut attempt at getting publicity. I am home with my pregnant wife trying to see if we can get the $10 grand we put down on our new house back."
And today, COWHEAD writes: "I am sorry to say that THE COWHEAD SHOW ST. PATRICK'S DAY party will NOT go on this year. As some of you may have noticed, the show has not been on the air this week due to circumstances beyond my control.
"However, BENNIGANS will be open that morning as planned and 98 ROCK will be out there live. I hope those of you planning on going at least stop by there for breakfast. AL and the folks at STADIUM BENNIGANS really stepped up to help plan the event, and money for the breakfast benefits local charities. Thanks, and hope to be back soon."
No official word from CLEAR CHANNEL RVPP and Rock Brand Mgr. BRAD HARDIN on whether COWHEAD and his crew, and PD BRIAN MEDLIN will come off suspension, and return to 98 ROCK, or not.
UPDATE: ALL ACCESS has learned that COWHEAD will be meeting with WXTB officials tomorrow (3/17) at 10:30a to discuss the situation. Check ALL ACCESS tomorrow for more details on the meeting as they become available. As of now, the station has pulled all mentions of COWHEAD's show from www.98rock.com.
