BONNEVILLE Talk KTAR-F (NEWS TALK 92.3)/PHOENIX brings in market veteran BRUCE ST. JAMES as the station's new 9a-noon MT host, starting MAY 3rd, and is also adding former WLS-A and WGN-A/CHICAGO and WBAP-A/DALLAS PD BOB SHOMPER as News Dir./APD. ST. JAMES replaces DARRELL ANKARLO in the midday slot, while SHOMPER fills the slot formerly held by JON ZIMNEY, who exited to launch FEDERATED MEDIA's new Talk WTRC-A-F/SOUTH BEND-ELKHART, IN.
Of ST. JAMES, who has served as PD of Top 40/Rhythmic KZON (101.5 JAMZ), Country KMLE, Top 40/Rhythmic KKFR (POWER 92.3), and Alternative KEDJ (THE EDGE), Dir. of News, Talk, and Sports Programming RUSS HILL said, "KTAR-FM's success is a direct result of innovation and breaking out of the traditional talk radio mold. BRUCE is anything but traditional. He's made his living building young music radio stations so he understands the FM audience and he's opinionated and diverse enough to command listeners' attention."
"I look forward to delivering an entertaining, informative, and thought provoking show that respects all opinions, no matter how wrong they are," said ST. JAMES, who has filled in at the station in the past. "On a more serious note, I'm excited and humbled to join BONNEVILLE and KTAR."
On SHOMPER, HILL said, "BOB is one of the most well-known programmers in News/Talk radio. We're thrilled to add someone with his experience and talent to our leadership team. BOB will help us as we transition from our current position of dominating in radio to owning the digital space as well."
"I'm thrilled to work for the best local radio news company in America," said SHOMPER. "KTAR-FM is a ratings leader, a MURROW AWARD winner, and a team with a plan to expand its content offerings while so many are cutting back. I couldn't be more excited to join the BONNEVILLE family."
