GREENSTONE MEDIA says that it has received financing from several celebrity women to launch its women's talk radio network, reports the WASHINGTON BUSINESS JOURNAL. The $3.1 million in venture capital comes from investors like JANE FONDA, ROSIE O'DONNELL, GLORIA STEINEM, BILLIE JEAN KING, LOS ANGELES DODGERS President JAMIE MCCOURT, TV producer MARTA KAUFFMAN, and ANNENBERG FOUNDATION VP WALLIS ANNENBERG.
The network has no affiliates lined up but has announced three shows, a morning show wth stand-up comics MAUREEN LANGAN and CORY KAHANEY ("LAST COMIC STANDING" and author NELSIE SPENCER ("THE PLAYGROUP"), a 9a-Noon show with "OFFICIAL PREPPY HANDBOOK" cerator LISA BIRNBACH, and an afternoon show with actress MO GAFFNEY (her on-stage partner KATHY NAJIMY was originally announced as MO's co-host but has backed down to guest status).
