The FCC and FLORIDA state agents are trying to hunt down a pirate FM that is interfering with aviation communications at MIAMI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.
The station, playing hip-hop as "DA STREETZ," was traced to an unmanned antenna and facility on MARCH 3, but the transmissions continue on multiple frequencies. Pilots and air traffic controllers have to switch frequencies when the broadcasts are on the air; SOUTH FLORIDA has long had a large number of pirate stations, and a state law makes operating a pirate or interfering with a licensed station a third-degree felony.
