More Webcasters Face Patent Suit

Net Ad Lawsuit

Another patent infringement action has been brought by FOWLER WOODS LLC over a patent it licenses for Internet advertising insertion, this time against ACCURADIO, BLOGTALKRADIO, and other media companies including the HUFFINGTON POST, BELO, MORRIS PUBLISHING GROUP, GLAM MEDIA INC., GPS TECHNOLOGIES INC., HOLLYWOOD INC., and NEWGROUNDS.COM, reports the SOUTHEAST TEXAS RECORD. 

The suit, filed MAY 19th, was filed in the Eastern District of TEXAS and looks for treble damages.

FOWLER WOODS previously filed suit against PANDORA, SLACKER, BLASTRO, INTERNET RADIO INC. (CHOCERADIO.COM), and MYSIMBOOK.COM LLC (RADIOLICIOUS.FM) under the same patent. The patent, U.S. Patent Number 6,351,736, is called "System and method for displaying advertisements with played data," and was issued in FEBRUARY 2002. FOWLER WOODS is the exclusive licensee of the patent.
