UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP dropped $810,000 in Q1 to lobby the federal government on the performance royalty bill before Congress, according to a disclosure report.
BUSINESSWEEK.COM reports that's "down from the $880,000 that the recording subsidiary of VIVENDI SA spent in the year-ago period, but more than the $660,000 it spent in the fourth quarter of 2009."
The APRIL 20th filing also noted that UNIVERSAL lobbied Congress, the FCC and others on legislation involving file-sharing programs used to swap songs online.
