Report: KSL Might Drop Sean Hannity

SALT LAKE TRIBUNE columnist GLEN WARCHOL writes in a current blog post at the paper's website that KSL BROADCAST GROUP Talk KSL-A-F/SALT LAKE CITY will "likely" drop PREMIERE's SEAN HANNITY as part of what he calls a "puritanical purge lunched within LDS Church-owned media." WARCHOL cites "insiders" at the station as saying HANNITY will be dropped "because he doesn't meet the new values code instituted earlier this year by DESERET MEDIA chief executive MARK WILLES."

WARCHOL writes that HANNITY's act is seen to conflict with WILLES' mission statement that requires "civility ... and respect for all people," and cites the departure of "left-leaning" weekend host JEFF BELL, who said that he left because he did not "fit into the new Corporate Mission Statement."

PD KEVIN LARUE told WARCHOL that the station is "doing a top to bottom review of all of our programming" but did not confirm HANNITY's status. WARCHOL speculates that HANNITY could be ticketed to fill the now-open afternoon slot at crosstown CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KNRS.
