McDowell Nom On Hold

The nomination of ROBERT MCDOWELL to the FCC has apparently been placed on hold by Sen. JAY ROCKEFELLER (D-WV), reports REUTERS. 

Senators can put holds on nominations for any reason. An aide to ROCKEFELLER, without confirming the hold, indicated to REUTERS that a hold on the COMPTEL counsel's nomimation may have been placed over concerns about accounting for the Universal Service Fund low-income/rural subsidy program, and that ROCKEFELLER wants confirmation that problems at the fund are fixed before releasing MCDOWELL's nomination to the full Senate.
