BRISTOL BROADCASTING Country WQBE/CHARLESTON, WV OM/morning personality JEFF WHITEHEAD recently got to help the family of 10-year-old brain cancer patient ELIZABETH PITTS make her dream to talk to MCA/NASHVILLE artist JOSH TURNER come true. PITTS and her family had received backstage passes through the MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION for TURNER’s JULY 17th tour stop in VALDOSTA, GA but WHITEHEAD received a message on JUNE 30th that her health was failing and that “JULY 17th seems like a long way away.”
WHITEHEAD got the message to MCA NE Promotion Rep JOE PUTNAM and TURNER called ELIZABETH to sing to her the following day. ELIZABETH passed away later that day just hours after JOSH’s call.
The family is requesting, “In lieu of flowers, please make a generous contribution to one of the following foundations that ELIZABETH loved so dearly: JAY'S HOPE in MACON, RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES of JACKSONVILLE or VICTORIA LEEANNE NEWSOME FOUNDATION in VALDOSTA.”
