GREATER MEDIA, INC. (GMI) will officially mark 50 years in broadcasting this FRIDAY, MARCH 31st. Owned by the BORDES family, the company was originally founded on MARCH 31st, 1956 by YALE classmates PETER A. BORDES and JOSEPH ROSENMILLER.
Starting with a single radio station in SOUTHBRIDGE, MA, GREATER MEDIA's portfolio now includes 19 AM and FM radio stations in BOSTON, DETROIT, PHILADELPHIA and NEW JERSEY; a modern printing plant and a group of weekly newspapers in Central NEW JERSEY; and several telecommunications towers throughout the United States.
"I am proud of the achievements of our company over the past years," said GREATER MEDIA Chairman JOHN BORDES. "My brother wanted the company to remain independent and locally based. LEE BORDES, PETER SMYTH and I are going to do exactly that. We look forward to growing GREATER MEDIA in the coming years. We believe passionately in the radio business."
"GREATER MEDIA is the culmination of PETER BORDES' life's work. PETER believed passionately in the strength of locally based, creative broadcasting that serves the needs of the community,” said GREATER MEDIA President PETER SMYTH.
