Cumulus Buying New Analog Translator For 99X/Atlanta

CUMULUS is buying W229AG/SANDY PLAINS, GA from CALVARY CHAPEL OF TWIN FALLS for $400,000. The FM translator holds a construction permit to co-locate with CUMULUS' Top 40 WWWQ (Q100)/ATLANTA and increase from 10 watts to 250 watts on 93.7 FM, and will rebroadcast Q100's HD-2 channel, Alternative 99X, which presently airs in analog on W250BC (97.9 FM).
In other FCC filings, HOUSTON Attorney THOMAS L. TAYLOR has filed for control of BUSINESSRADIO HOUSTON LLC (BIZRADIO)'s KTEK-A/HOUSTON. The appointment of TAYLOR as receiver in DECEMBER 2009, modified in JUNE, followed the SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION's suit against the company and ALBERT KALETA, KALETA CAPITAL MANAGEMENT and DAN FRISHBERG's DFFS CAPITAL MANAGEMENT.
WTIX, INC. is buying K285FF/METAIRIE, LA from RADIO ASSIST MINISTRY for $135,000.
RADIO ASSIST MINISTRY is also selling K246BO/EL PASO DE ROBLES, CA to RADIO BILINGUE, INC. for $20,000.
COLLEGE CREEK MEDIA, LLC is selling Hot AC KRPX (95.3 THE PEAK)/WELLINGTON, UT to EASTERN UTAH BROADCASTING COMPANY for $300,000 under an option granted in 2005. EASTERN UTAH has been operating the station since then under an LMA.
LIPEZ BROADCASTING CORP. is selling Hot AC WSNU (92.1 THE MOUNTAIN) and Oldies WBPZ-A (Z-GOLD)/LOCK HAVEN-WILLIAMSPORT, PA to SCHLESINGER COMMUNICATIONS, INC for $700,000.
PATHWAY COMMUNITY RADIO, INC. is selling W243AB/WESTVALE, NY to RENARD COMMUNICATIONS CORP. for $35,000.
And KEVIN M. FITZGERALD is swapping W225BC/ENDICOTT, NY to FITZGERALD AND HAWRAS, PARTNERSHIP in exchange for the partnership sending W296BL/ATHENS, PA to co-owned GEOS COMMUNICATIONS and GEOS sending the license of W236BV/DICKSON CITY, PA to FITZGERALD.
In technical filings, LA PROMESA FOUNDATION has applied for a new AM at 1570 in FRITCH, TX. The new station would use 15,000 watts daytime with two towers and 1,000 watts at night with three towers.
Applying for Silent STAs were NEW SOUTH RADIO, INC. (WIIN-A/RIDGELAND, MS); VOX COMMUNICATIONS GROUP LLC (WAVK/MARATHON, FL); and CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES, INC. (W220AX/LUDLOW, VT).
Applying for extensions for Silent STAs were THE CEDARVILLE UNIVERSITY (W213AO/NEW PARIS, OH); PLEASANTVILLE BAPTIST CHURCH (KPBC-LP/PLEASANTVILLE, IA); HOUSTON CHRISTIAN BROADCASTERS, INC. (K283AW and K254BC/HUNTSVILLE, TX; K296FJ/VIDOR, TX; K234AY and K274BG/RUSTON, LA; K290AP/COMMERCE, TX; K287AM/BEAUMONT, TX); and CALVARY CHAPEL OF TWIN FALLS (K289A)/FALL RIVER MILLS, CA).
Gap, Regent Shuffle Into Townsquare Filed
As expected, TOWNSQUARE MANAGEMENT COMPANY, LLC has applied to the FCC to roll the licenses of GAP BROADCASTING, GAP WEST BROADCASTING and REGENT stations under its corporate umbrella. The filings report that the transaction has not yet been finalized, but the paperwork has been filed with the Commission.
Border Media Trust Sells KSOX
The BORDER MEDIA BUSINESS TRUST is selling Sports KSOX-A (ESPN RADIO 1240)/RAYMONDVILLE-BROWNSVILLE-MCALLEN, TX to VISION HISPANA INC. INTERNACIONAL for $250,000 cash. The trust is headed by broker LARRY PATRICK as trustee, and PATRICK COMMUNICATIONS' GREG GUY served as broker for the deal; the buyer is headed by HECTOR CARRIZALES. The deal has yet to be filed with the FCC.
KHZ Radio Network Expands With WEMD
The KHZ RADIO NETWORK, based at Top 40 WKHZ-A/OCEAN CITY, MD and including WYRE-A/ANNAPOLIS and KHZTV.COM, says it is acquiring WEMD-A/EASTON, MD from FIRST MEDIA RADIO for an undisclosed price. The deal has yet to be filed with the FCC.
Florida AM Buys FM
In a deal not yet filed with the FCC, GEORGE S. FLINN has sold WXJB/HOMOSASSA, FL to STEVE MANUEL's HERNANDO BROADCASTING CO., owner of Talk WWJB-A/BROOKSVILLE, FL. The station's websits touts that WWJB is "about to give birth," and MANUEL told HERNANDO TODAY that the station will air a Talk format with mostly syndicated shows and a simulcast of the first two hours of local host BOB HAA's WWJB show.
And SALT OF THE EARTH BROADCASTING has closed on the purchase of Talk KEES-A/GLADEWATER, TX from GLEISER COMMUNICATIONS and has flipped the station to Gospel.
KQPN/Memphis Deal Closes
SIMMONS MEDIA has closed on the sale of Sports KQPN-A (730 FOX SPORTS)/MEMPHIS to CHRISTOPHER WESTENBERGER's KQPN INC. for $400,000 cash.
LARRY PATRICK and GREG GUY of PATRICK COMMUNICATIONS served as brokers for SIMMONS and JOHN PIERCE AND CO.'s JOHN PIERCE was the broker for the buyer in the deal.
