Published reports claim that indie label TSR RECORDS has filed suit against WARNER MUSIC, claiming antitrust violations related to the label's settlement with NEW YORK Attorney General ELLIOT SPITZER. TSR previously filed a similar suit against SONY BMG MUSIC, which also settled with SPITZER, claiming that indie labels dad been damaged due to their inability to pay for airtime.
The suit apparently is not a surprise to WARNER MUSIC, as the company noted in its 8K form, released in NOVEMBER, 2005, "TSR RECORDS...filed an antitrust suit against SONY BMG alleging that the label's radio promotion activities are anticompetitive. While it is too soon to predict the impact of this recent development on us, any litigation we may become involved in as a result of our settlement with the Attorney General, regardless of the merits of any claim, could be costly and would divert the time and resources of management."
TSR RECORDS, based in TARZANA, CA, scored a string of Dance hits in the 80s by artists such as PAMELA STANLEY, HAZEL DEAN, MIGUEL BROWN, EVELYN THOMAS and LIME. In the 90s, TSR focused on the Smooth Jazz genre, and in recent years has had success with Rock band GET SET GO.
