SALEM has closed on its purchase of Talk WWRC-A/WASHINGTON from RED ZEBRA BROADCASTING for $3.1 million.
GREG GUY of PATRICK COMMUNICATIONS served as broker for RED ZEBRA in the deal.
Buyer Found For WSMR/Sarasota
NORTHWESTERN MEDIA Contemporary Christian WSMR (LIFE 89.1)/SARASOTA, FL, which recently announced that it would go dark TODAY (NET NEWS 7/30), has been sold to the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA for $1.275 million.GREG GUY of PATRICK COMMUNICATIONS is serving as the seller's broker, and PUBLIC RADIO CAPITAL is representing USF in the transaction. USF plans to move Classical programming to WSMR from its WUSF-F/TAMPA and replace it on WUSF with more News and Talk programming, effective SEPTEMBER 15th.
Nebraska Noncomm Sold
SOUTHEAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE is selling noncommercial KQIQ/BEATRICE, NE to MISSION NEBRASKA, INC. for $4,400.In a Silent STA filing with the FCC, CLEAR CHANNEL has asked for an extension of time to keep FM translator K243AT/MERAUX, LA off the air. K243AT, located on the PLAZA TOWER in NEW ORLEANS, has been dark since SEPTEMBER 21, 2009 and was awaiting completion of post-KATRINA renovations at the building; the company was recently notified that it will not be able to build the station at that location due to continued delays in the renovation, and is seeking a permanent location for the translator.
