Poll: Majority Favor Broadcast Content Regulation By FCC

Poll Favors Regulations

A RASMUSSEN REPORTS poll says that 55% of respondents believe the FCC "should be allowed to regulate objectionable content on television and radio," eight points lower from a JUNE 2007 poll.  34% oppose the regulation.  Women are in favor of indecency regulation by a two-to-one margin, while men are evenly divided.

The numbers coincide with the statistic that 57% of American adults agree that "there is too much inappropriate content on television and radio."  Married adults are more in favor of regulation than unmarried respondents, and those over 40 favor regulation more than those under 40.

However, just 27% believe the FCC should regulate the Internet in the same way, 22 points below the number in JUNE 2008.
