WVVE Re-Launches As 'Venus Radio V-100'

MAGIC BROADCASTING AC WVVE (WAVE 100)/PANAMA CITY has dropped it's format in favor of "Real Radio for Real Women -- VENUS RADIO V-100."

"It occurred to me that most radio stations targeting women were soft, mushy and vanilla", said GM MELISSA CAMPBELL. "You always knew it was a 'girls' station by the surplus of ELTON, CELINE and ROD, and the absence of any 'compelling adult content. None ever stated point blank, 'Women! We’re here for you!' That changed forever on WEDNESDAY morning when WAVE 100 became VENUS RADIO, V-100."

V-100 came out of the gate with an all-woman morning show, DEE and ANGIE in the morning.

The format skews hot-er AC, minus the "thumping" Top-40 tunes, keeping it office friendly. Jock content is targeted at women as individuals as opposed to as moms, wives, etc.

"We wanted a station that spoke to a woman about things that matter to her as a person," CAMPBELL explained. "We have stations that are totally male, totally kids. This one is for the ladies."
