The WASHINGTON POST's coverage of its new online competition, ALLBRITTON's fledgling TBD.COM local news website, gives a nod to BONNEVILLE News WTOP/WASHINGTON's website as, along with the POST's own website, one of "the two most-popular local Web-news sources in the region."
TBD is officially launching next week, the product of the company that owns ABC affiliate WJLA-TV/WASHINGTON, POLITICO, and NEWSCHANNEL 8, the regional cable news channel that will be renamed TBD as well to allow for cross-promotional opportunities. In the POST's coverage of the launch, writer PAUL FARHI notes that TBD will be serving "primarily... (as) an aggregator of local news coverage," with "the heavy lifting... done by linking to other news sources, including direct competitors such as WASHINGTONPOST.COM and WTOP.COM, the two most-popular local Web-news sources in the region."
