As ALL ACCESS told you yesterday, CUMULUS Classic Rock KZEL/EUGENE, OR has been busy "stunting" the past couple days, with PD/middayer MARK RANEY locking himself in the studio in an alleged protest of the syndicated content the station had been airing (KZEL had been using the syndicated "MARK & BRYAN" in mornings as well as "NIGHTS WITH ALICE COOPER").
A modern-day revolutionary, RANEY pitched a pup tent in the studio and proclaimed that he wouldn't leave until listeners got nothing less than "live and local" programming 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Well, the "protest" worked, we think, as the station has confirmed to ALL ACCESS that both syndicated shows are going to be replaced by live programming. According to the station's "Save KZEL" blog (www.savekzel.com), KZEL will also now play a more current selection of Rock artists alongside the Classic Rockers the station had been steadily feeding listeners.
Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
