Last night's edition of "SHAQ VS." on ABC TV saw the big guy taking on JUSTIN BIEBER in a dance-off, and on the basketball court.

"Beliebe" it or not, BIEBER actually equated himself pretty well on the basketball court, hitting quite a few shots ... even a three-pointer.  SHAQ also demonstrated some pretty smooth dance moves for a big guy. Could "Dancing With The Stars" be next?

While the show was airing on ABC, the "real" show was happening at MADISON SQUARE GARDEN, where BIEBER took the stage to a crowd reaction that could only be discovered as "nuts."

Many guests joined BIEBER on stage, including BOYZ II MEN, who joined JUSTIN for a performance of his new single, "U Smile."  Other guest performers included USHER, MILEY CYRUS, "Karate Kid" JAYDEN SMITH, SEAN KINGSTON and LUDACRIS.

Lots of celebs were in attendance, including JETS Quarterback MARK SANCHEZ, MARY J BLIGE and her daughter, J-LO and her kids, plus WILL and JADA PINKETT SMITH.
