American Urban Networks Urban Knights Awards Set

AMERICAN URBAN RADIO NETWORKS (AURN) will sponsor its 9th Annual URBAN KNIGHT AWARDS at the NAB/RAB 2010 Radio Show, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29th at THE GRAND HYATT HOTEL in WASHINGTON D.C. starting at 7p.

The URBAN KNIGHT AWARDS were initiated in 2002 to honor individuals and companies for their extraordinary efforts in marketing to the African-American marketplace.

This year LEW and JOHN DICKEY from CUMULUS MEDIA will be inducted into THE URBAN KNIGHT “Hall Of Fame.

“I’ve been in this business for four decades and for as long as I can remember the DICKEY family has been committed to marketing to the Black Consumer marketplace,” said JERRY LOPES Pres/Program Operations & Affiliations for AURN. “ They’ve always had a significant number of urban stations in their radio portfolio and those stations have stood the test of time effectively serving African-Americans in small and medium sized markets throughout this country.” 

In addition to the URBAN KNIGHT AWARDS, the URBAN BISHOP LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD will be presented to CHARLES WARFIELD, Pres/CEO of INNER CITIES BROADCASTING CORP. Other URBAN NIGHT AWARD recipients this year include DOUG ABERNETHY, OVEDA BROWN, ADRIANE GAINES, JEFFREY MYERS and MELODY SPANN-COOPER.
