The 2010 AMERICANA MUSIC FESTIVAL AND CONFERENCE is taking place THIS WEEK in NASHVILLE (9/8-11) and a few new details of the event have now come to light:
The 2010 Spirit of Americana Recipient MARY CHAPIN CARPENTER will be the subject of the Keynote Interview, sponsored by ASCAP. The interview, conducted by KEN PAULSON, Pres./COO of the FREEDOM FORUM, NEWSEUM and DIVERSITY INSTITUTE, will take place THURSDAY (9/9) from 10:30 TO 11:30a in the Capitol Ballroom at the SHERATON NASHVILLE DOWNTOWN HOTEL.
Plus more names have been added to the HONORS AND AWARDS SHOW presented by THE GIBSON FOUNDATION taking place THURSDAY NIGHT at the RYMAN AUDITORIUM. Rocker JACK WHITE and Americana torchbearer LUCINDA WILLIAMS have been added to the list of presenters. Also stepping up to the mic that night are CARPENTER, GRACE POTTER, MARTIE MAGUIRE and EMILY ROBISON, and JOHN OATES.
The 2010 Lifetime Recipient for Songwriting JOHN MELLENCAMP will kick off the show with a live performance. The roots music will continue on through the evening with performances by EMMYLOU HARRIS, THE AVETT BROTHERS, RODNEY CROWELL, WANDA JACKSON, ROSANNE CASH, PATTY GRIFFIN, SAM BUSH, RAY WYLIE HUBBARD, RYAN BINGHAM, CORB LUND, CAROLINA CHOCOLATE DROPS, JOE PUG, SARAH JAROSZ and WILL KIMBROUGH.
