AMAZON.COM has purchased online music retailer AMIE STREET for an undisclosed amount, reports THE REGISTER. AMIE STREET was a unique online music store that offered some artists' songs for free, then rose the price on them once they became more popular.
YESTERDAY, AMIE STREET sent an e-mail to users stating that on SEPT. 22nd, site visitors will be forwarded to AMAZON.COM Web pages, and the AMIESTREET.COM service will be shut down. Users have until that date to spend any credit they have with the site or download any songs they've already purchased.
It is highly unlikely that AMAZON will continue AMIE STREET's "dynamic pricing" business model.
The Founders of AMIE STREEET will now devote their atention to the music-streaming site, SONGZA.
