ALL ACCESS sends thoughts and prayers to the family of HOUSTON music great H.W. "BUD" DAILY, who died SATURDAY (9/11). A member of a family with a long musical heritage, DAILY once ran H.W. DAILY DISTRIBUTING, a source of records and tapes for the Southwest.
His family founded CACTUS RECORDS AND TAPES, which grew to become one of the nation's premiere independent music stores, and D RECORDS, the first home of the ACE IN THE HOLE BAND, featuring
young GEORGE STRAIT.BUD's father, known as "PAPPY" DAILY, formed STARDAY RECORDS and was instrumental in the launch of the careers of GEORGE JONES, MELBA MONTGOMERY and the BIG BOPPER.
BUD's sons continue the family's music tradition. MIKE DAILY plays steel guitar in GEORGE STRAIT's ACE IN THE HOLE BAND. WES DAILY manages GLAD MUSIC, a BMI publishing company, and D RECORDS.
A memorial service for BUD DAILY will be held FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 17th at 10:30a (CT) at PAT H. FOLEY funeral home, 1200 West 34th Street in HOUSTON.
