Merle Haggard Gets Some Help From His Friends After Cancelling Shows

Country music legend MERLE HAGGARD canceled the remainder of his SEPTEMBER shows due to a chest infection (NET NEWS 9/15) but his friends are pitching in to help. MEL TILLIS and RAY PRICE will play a show in CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO TONIGHT (9/16) to fill in for HAGGARD.

TILLIS told THE BOOT blog: "I am happy to do it. It's an honor for me to fill in for a legend like HAGGARD. I've known him for 52 years, and he is one of my dearest friends."

GEORGE JONES will step in on SATURDAY (9/18) in FREDERICK, MD. All HAGGARD tickets will be honored for the show at THE GREAT FREDERICK FAIR.
