The NHL's COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS will move to DISPATCH Sports WBNS-F (SPORTS RADIO 97.1 THE FAN)/COLUMBUS this season, moving from FUN WITH RADIO, LLC Alternative WWCD (CD101 AT 102.5). GEORGE MATTHEWS and BOB MCELLIGOTT return to call the action, with each game preceded by a 15 minute pre-game show.
Some games, including the preseason and the season opener against the SAN JOSE SHARKS in STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN on OCTOBER 8th, will air on sister Sports WBNS-A (THE FAN AT AM 1460), and former flagship CD101 AT 102.5 will air games bumped from THE FAN due to conflicts with OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY football and men's basketball, plus the second game against the SHARKS in STOCKHOLM.
"We're very pleased to continue relationships with the radio partners that have been with us since the start of our franchise and provide our fans the opportunity to follow the BLUE JACKETS through game coverage and ancillary programming," said the team's VP of Marketing MARC GREGORY.
"We are very proud to add the BLUE JACKETS game broadcasts to the lineup on 97.1 THE FAN," said station Pres./GM DAVE VAN STONE. "From game broadcasts, to the Coach's Show with SCOTT ARNIEL and regular reports on the team throughout the day, 97.1 THE FAN is where fans can turn for in-depth BLUE JACKETS coverage throughout the season."
"We are excited to continue our partnership with the BLUE JACKETS as we make the transition to CD101's new signal at 102.5FM," said CD101 AT 102.5 VP/GM RANDY MALLOY. "As COLUMBUS' alternative station, we look forward to being central OHIO's 'alternative' for BLUE JACKETS hockey."
