Junior hockey's OSHAWA GENERALS will not be heard on the radio this season, reports OSHAWA THIS WEEK's BRIAN MCNAIR. The team and DURHAM RADIO Oldies CKDO-A-F/OSHAWA, ON failed to reach agreement on a radio deal, and GENERALS VP/Business Operations PETE BURCHOWYCZ told MCNAIR, "The cost required to bear the broadcast is fairly substantial and we just couldn't come to an arrangement that served both organizations ... I think we all agreed that it was in the best interest of both organizations. It was not us saying 'no we're not going to do it' and it wasn't them saying 'we don't want to do it.' It was agreed mutually that this just isn't really making sense to both organizations anymore."
The GENERALS plan to stream coverage of its games on the team website, relying on broadcasts from opposing teams and, in the case of games against the BARRIE COLTS and BRAMPTON BATTALION (who also do not have radio coverage), audio from ROGERS CABLE telecasts.
