RUSH LIMBAUGH was caught by a WIKIPEDIA hoax TUESDAY when he said that Judge ROGER VINSON, the federal judge who allowed a legal challenge to President OBAMA's health care law, once killed three brown bears and mounted their heads above the courtroom door to "instill the fear of God into the accused."
THE NEW YORK TIMES reports that LIMBAUGH's material was from VINSON's WIKIPEDIA entry, on which someone posted the fake information with a fake citation to the PENSACOLA NEWS JOURNAL.
LIMBAUGH's "Chief of Staff" KIT CARSON told the TIMES that a researcher had found the article on the NEWS JOURNAL's website, but the paper's Managing Editor GINNY GRAYBIEL said that no such article had appeared. For his own part, VINSON, the President of the AMERICAN CAMELLIA SOCIETY, said, "I've never killed a bear, and I'm not DAVY CROCKETT."
