LONG ISLAND Rock fans had to do without COX Rock WBAB/NASSAU-SUFFOLK on SATURDAY (9/18) morning after the station was taken off the air by ... squirrels!
Said PD CHRIS LLOYD, "Some squirrels chew on small branches to sharpen and clean their teeth. One squirrel on LONG ISLAND thought the high voltage line to our transmitter site would do the trick. About five hours later we were back up ... Can't say the same for the squirrel!"
The station posted a notice about the problem on its website, and continued to broadcast on the web until the problem was fixed.
