SAVANNAH MUSIC GROUP (SMG) Chairman JEFF COHEN announced TODAY (9/20) that ED SALAMON will join SMG as CEO on OCTOBER 1st. ED most recently served as Exec. Dir. for the COUNTRY RADIO BROADCASTERS, INC. and has also previously held the title of Pres./Programming for WESTWOOD ONE. He takes over CEO duties previously held by COHEN, who will focus on his role as Chairman of SMG.
COHEN said: "ED is one of the most dynamic and well-connected people in the music industry. He has a great track record in the entertainment industry and with start-ups, and we are pleased to have him lead SAVANNAH MUSIC GROUP."
SAVANNAH MUSIC GROUP is a music publishing company and independent record label founded two years ago by COHEN, DAVE GIBSON (formerly of the GIBSON-MILLER BAND, who serves as President) and DAISY DERN. SMG made headlines recently when they presented their opposition to the proposed mandatory PERFORMANCE RIGHTS fee (NET NEWS 8/10).
GIBSON said of SALAMON: "It is rare to find an executive that combines ED's entertainment and business acumen. He brings an encompassing perspective and a sense of history."
SALAMON added: "SAVANNAH MUSIC GROUP is incubating writers and artists who are producing music that should resonate strongly with radio listeners. I am excited about bringing my business talents to help this venture fulfill its potential."
Beginning OCTOBER 1st, ED can be reached at edsalamon@savannahmusicgroup.com and (615) 358-2444.
