EDDIE FRANKLIN, son of THE QUEEN OF SOUL, ARETHA FRANKLIN, was severely beaten at a gas station in DETROIT. EDDIE FRANKLIN, who is in his early 50s, was attacked Monday evening and underwent surgery at a local hospital. A witness claimed two men and a woman may have been responsible for the attack. Although no motive has been established, police did not rule out robbery.
A woman who was with FRANKLIN told police she went into the gas station and when she returned, he had been attacked. She then drove him to a hospital, dropped him off and headed to a police station to file a report. Although he did have minor surgery, a hospital spokesman said FRANKLIN walked out on his own.
ARETHA FRANKLIN, 68, is one of the most honored musicians in AMERICAN history, having won numerous GRAMMYs, The National Medal Of Arts, The Presidential Medal of Freedom and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.
EDDIE FRANKLIN was considered a suspect in a 2002 arson fire at his mother’s home in suburban DETROIT, but he was never charged. EDDIE is also a singer, who has recorded with his mother in the past.
