GENE PITNEY, legendary early Pop singer from the 1960's, was found dead in his hotel room in CARDIFF, WALES at the age of 65. Cause of death was not immediately disclosed.
PITNEY was on British tour and had just performed the previous night at ST. DAVID's HALL. His hits included "Love My Life Away," "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance," and "Only Love Can Break The Heart." He wrote a couple of big hits too, like BOBBY VEE's "Rubber Ball" in 1961, and RICKY NELSON's "Hello Mary Lou."
