The BBC is officially looking for a buyer for at least part of its magazine division, publisher of its radio and TV listings magazine, the RADIO TIMES, and other titles. The BBC TRUST, which oversees the U.K. national broadcaster, has approved BBC WORLDWIDE's plans to sell a "strategic partnership" interest in its magazine division while leaving the BBC with some control over content.
The magazines published by the BBC include the print version of popular TV show "TOP GEAR" as well as "GARDENER'S WORLD," "LONELY PLANET," "GOOD FOOD," "CBEEBIES ART" and other titles. The proposed sale could see some titles sold outright or a party taking an up to 85% interest in the operation, as was the case in the sale of the BBC BOOKS and BBC AUDIOBOOKS divisions.
