SHOW DOG-UNIVERSAL MUSIC artist JOE NICHOLS walked away from his recent appearance on CMT’s “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader" with $125,000 that he won, money that he is donating to CAMP BARNABAS, in SOUTHWEST FLORIDA.
NICHOL’s younger sister KELLI has attended the camp for the past several years. The camp caters to young people with special needs.
According to CYNDI TEAS, the camp’s co-founder and director of development, the money will go towards building a much-needed health care facility to take care of the camp’s 1,300 campers. Thanks to JOE’s donation and a matching funds program set up by the MABEE FOUNDATION, they will be able to break ground right away.
"Applying the money from JOE in this way provides the maximum benefit for the dollar to all of the campers," according to TEAS. "Every camper who comes to our summer program has a medical need and we serve almost 1,300 campers each summer. JOE's win helps us make a new heath care facility possible sooner and we are so appreciative of his honoring us and his sister KELLI in this way."
