A Hip-Hop History Due To Hit Bookshelves In December

Anyone interested in Hip-Hop is likely to enjoy reading "The Big Payback: The History of the Business of Hip Hop" by DAN CHARNAS, which is due to be in bookstores DECEMBER 7th.

The book traces Hip-Hop from its earliest roots in the late '60s through 2008. CHARNAS conducted over 300 interviews with industry folks (label executives, radio programmers, artists, managers, etc) and spent four years writing it. Quite a substantial portion of the book is devoted to radio -- the visionary programmers who first stepped out to support this music, the battles for ratings supremacy in various markets, the programmers, on-air personalities and behind-the-scenes players who made it all happen.
